Its higher iso makes it ideal for lower light shooting. It’s more similar to the vibrant colors of Kodak Ektar 100. Lastly, Portra 800 is not available in sheet film, whereas 400 and 160 are. That is not an easy feat from a 35mm negative! I bought a roll of Portra 800 specifically for a trip to the Harry Potter Tour at Leavesden Movie Studios, however, I put the film in the camera too early and took it to an Airfare first. The grain on Portra 400 and 800 are both extremely fine; however, due to the higher ISO, the fine grain on Portra 800 still looks different than the grain on Portra 800. Just a quick comment to say that there are really wonderful images. (please add 'portra' to your photos' tags) Digital photos with VSCO filters are NOT ALLOWED! The forest was cool and soothing, and we recharged our batteries. You can change your language preferences any time you like — just select your language from the dropdown list! But Portra 800 has given me more than just a bit of extra speed, it has given me more keepers, and it has given me the confidence to use film photos for my first exposition. For the first trip underwater I test the camera in the sink with a piece of paper inside. Good lord, there ARE fish in that photo!!
But I don’t really see the day where it takes 400’s place in my heart or freezer.I haven’t done either as of yet. Amazing picture!
