DOCTOR: Don't challenge me, Harriet Jones, because I'm a completely new man. How did the Doctor bring Harriet Jones down with the six words: "Don't you think she looks tired?" A furious Doctor started rumours which set in motion her political downfall. It's planting the seed in Alex to question if Harriet is fit to continue being Prime Minister, or if she is 'too tired'.This is an example of the old saw, 'Perception is reality. DOCTOR: Six.

When told this, the Tenth Doctor warned Pete Tyler to "keep an eye on her". Obwohl nicht mehr im Amt, hält sich Harriet weiter auf dem Laufenden. "These 6 words spoken to Alex, Harriet's Sr. aide, inevitably leads to Harriet's downfall and being voted out of office under the presumption that she is no longer fit to lead.A motion of no-confidence or, alternatively vote of no confidence, is a statement or vote which states that a person(s) in a position of responsibility (government, managerial, etc.)
How did the Doctor bring Harriet Jones down with the six words: "Don't you … When the Doctor says to Alex, "Don't you think she (Harriet) looks tired." It seemed to me that his pitch and tone were very carefully chosen to be picked up by the (deliberately positioned) microphone thingy.Pretty sure anyone he says that of would eventually get the boot.Yes, a hitherto unknown "superpower" of the Doctor, makes more sense to me too. It's a tie to Thatcher, one of her aides once said she looked tired and lead to speculation on her leadership.Could be some built in protection in case an alien is in power (as in previous episodes with the slitheen, master etc) or as in Harriet's case she's a bit too insane and could start star wars she can't finish.Everyone is quick to offer the suggestion that it was merely planting the seed of doubt in one of her staffers, but I think that's too mundane an explanation.

I agree with some of the others who have posted that the Doctor has some subtle telepathic abilities, and I think he really implanted that thought deep, where the aide would then go on and share his concerns with others, who would then begin to see it themselves and it would become a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy going forward.Edit: Many thanks for all the replies!I always thought he used some kind of subtle Jedi mind trick. I would have voted Saxon, wouldn't you?It would spread around that she is looking tired, and isn't at all fit to be Prime Minister.I believe our hero is holding out on us.It was just a seed of doubt, but I think maybe the Doctor was able to give it a lacing of subliminal suggestion that an ordinary person couldn't have achieved.I was wondering the same thing too. He planted that seed by asking Alex the innocuous, but leading, question: "Don't you think she looks tired? Doesn't he also do some kind of Spockish "mind meld" thing?I always assumed it was to reduce her confidence, leading her to slip up more and when people saw the slip-ups they'd no longer trust her, but that's based purely off the Christmas Invasion, I can't remember what happened in the later episodes. Also I just rewatched city of death with tom Baker and he and romana consider flying somewhere but then decide to walk instead. She was made to look paranoid because the Doctor said it quietly to her aide. Once you get a few other people to join in without the target knowing, most people will be psyched out and think they really aren't feeling well.I think it's something like "You don't need to kill a god, just let him be seen bleeding" (or something along the lines.
