The plan was to order enough to bring home leftovers for lunch the next day but it was so good we polished everything off that evening. We ordered drinks – Adam went for the Dishoom India Pale Ale (£5.30) and I opted for a Colaba Colada (£8.70), Dishoom’s take on the pina colada – pineapple and coconut cream with coriander, chai syrup, lime juice and two rums.

Indian restaurant group Dishoom has been forced to delay the full launch of its new venue in Birmingham city centre as the country goes into coronavirus lockdown.
It made its regional debut in Edinburgh in 2016, and opened a restaurant in Manchester in 2018. Food and staff are amazingAnd during the current times they make you feel so safe with the precautions they are taking - above and beyondAbsolutely fantastic meal - exactly the same quality as ever.

If you’re familiar with Dishoom, you’ll know that some of them offer walk in only and queuing outside is the done thing. A Dishoom signature dish — dark, rich, deeply flavoured.

It’s just that it’s not the only Indian restaurant in London worth going to. Journal Eclectic collection of things to read, watch, make and do. Ordered the gunpowder potatoes, ruby Murray and black dahl- beautiful.
So next time somebody inevitably says “how about Dishoom?”, try putting one of these places into the mix instead.
