Aflac for pregnancy. @jjhs, Ok, so I think this is where I'm having my issue with it. It's not for doctors visits or anything, it's just so you get paid maternity leave. Her work offers Aflac supplemental insurance.
Anyone here take advantage of the AFLAC 'maternity' insurance and better yet have previous experiences using it? Aflac didn’t charge employers per policy offered (or for any other aspect of the relationship), so there’s no reason for them to not have Aflac make an additional policy available to employees who are interested.Awesome, thanks for the response.
She will have 6 weeks of paid leave through STD, PTO, etc. 6 Similar Discussions Found . Aflac’s ads don’t really say so explicitly, but Aflac is the leader with a category known as supplemental insurance. That advice applies to all policies. There was also what we called a “sickness policy” that back then wasn’t worth the cost, but it may be worth inquiring about as you can stack it with the hospitalization policy and I know they were making changes to it to make it more attractive as it wasn’t something we really even tried to sell. Our Aflac rep at my work is always talking about getting them and how it covers so much during pregnancy, etc. Any particular questions to ask prior to enrolling in order to avoid pitfalls or “fine print” type stuff?I had the Aflac STD and the Hospital/Sickness plan. None of us liked it or found it to be a good value and instead pushed employers towards offering policies that were more likely to pay out and/or present a value after the premium cost. I have health insurance, and if I get cancer, it covers the cancer. As long as I don?t give birth within the first 10 months I would be covered?! Since the only pregnancy specific insurance I would have would be AFLAC?would it be worth it to sign up? Cancer insurance just plays on the emotions.
C. Codewiz Diamond Member. My husband is looking into AFLAC through work?it would cost about 23 a month for supplemental insurance including pregnancy.
Note my STD plan was for 6 weeks, but the first 2 weeks were a waiting period, so I only received a payout for 4 weeks. What was super helpful, my second pregnancy was twins.
Since the only pregnancy specific insurance I would have would be AFLAC?would it be worth it to sign up? with 6 weeks of unpaid leave.
Beyond its advertising exposure, it is the largest provider of voluntary supplemental insurance policies, offering group and individual insurance plans.
haha...don't you love how I put that? I’m not sure whether the ACA did away with pre-existing conditions for supplemental policies, as you may not be able to enroll until open enrollment, which could affect your timeline. Many people would purchase the level of the policy that would get them closest to their deductible with an uncomplicated delivery and come out close to breaking even. c. chambette. I know one of my friends got back $4,000 after she had her baby two years ago.
Has anyone used their short term disability or hospital stay insurance?
Quoting Vodka Knockers:" Is it just maternity insurance like hospital stay, doctors appointments, etc or is it something like if you get put on bed rest, they'll help pay your bills and what not?" Aflac life insurance through work.
Of course check with the Aflac agent that this is still the case, and ensure that pregnancy no longer has a pre-existing clause.
I wrote it in another program and pasted it. I think it was 30 days. I am no longer affiliated with them and am not familiar with the policies as they exist post-ACA, but I can tell you the process I walked potential policyholders through when deciding on their coverages.Wife is primary breadwinner and husband is in 2nd year of medical school. Many of my friends have the Aflac pregnancy insurance, which I believe is a division of one of the disability plans?
In other words...am I alright ONLY having my regular HMO (no special pregnancy coverage) insurance and Aflac....?If you're not PG, how is it too late to sign up?Um....are you PG already? AFLAC pregnancy insurance. Was it worth it?First up, their short or long term disability policy will only kick in after any other STD policies she may have in place, but the Aflac waiting period will usually have already been met via that policy. Some people who would technically lose $100 or so on the policy purchase would still opt to get the policy, as it essentially forced them to save towards their deductible and if the employer was on a cafeteria plan, would achieve some minor tax savings.
Here’s what you need to know about this coverage, to help decide if it’s something you should consider.
