Have you run into either of these issues using your MBP16? ... but my first MacBook Pro.

The problem is, as many of you know, this computer is about 10 years old now and the processors, board, and psu are all original.Anyway, this all comes down to the question-- does anyone have experience with a similar workflow using any of these new machines I mentioned? The OP linked Max Tech video shows that the 2020 MBP13 is 10-30% higher performance over the base model, has better speakers and has two fans instead of one. From what I've seen on reviews, it wouldn't be worth it to get the 2020 MBA if it's specced to the same price point as the 2020 MBP. N E V E R !!
:)Start it at something like $1,500 for i5/8gb. The better heat sink/fan and speakers are great, not sure why they weren't mentioned at release.I'm very interested in a comparison between a higher specced 2020 MBA and the lower specced 2020 MBP at the same price point. If you upgrade to 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM, you’re at $1,599.

Apple's 2020 MacBook Pro 13-incher is formidable, with a revamped keyboard and spanking-new CPU options. Like the other guys have said the 2020 Air won’t be able to keep up with any heavy tasks but daily it would be a great machine. As far as I can tell my other options would hit around 4-5k.I would advise to pick up a MacBook Pro 16 as the MacBook Pro has a dedicated GPU, which helps you with your video editing work and is mobile, where as the Mac mini is cheaper overall it has only an integrated GPU and of course can only be used with an external monitor. GPU is closer. Even if it was cooled with liquid nitrogen it's not supposed to run much faster than how it currently is.
share. Nothing new.
With the powerful Apple MacBook Pro, available in multiple screen sizes, and the slim, efficient MacBook Air, there are only two broad Mac laptop families to … I’m still kinda expecting them to refresh the 13 inch more - this refresh feels like a stop gap.Single fan on the bar 13 and dual on the higher 14 ha been the standard since the new design launched in 2016. The CPU scores are not even close.

And how about if I have the laptop hooked to an egpu 75% of the time, would the internal gpu really burn out that fast? Why not try to change CPUs in your MP ? That $200 price difference would work out to basically $33/year for all of those upgrades.I hate Apple for splitting the 13-inch MacBook Pro line in two.
I work professionally as a filmmaker and video artist and shoot 4k raw video 99% of the time with a Blackmagic camera.
I have an almost 6 years old MacBook Pro and I would love to change it for a new 13-inch MacBook.
From most of the research I've done online, it seems not to be. **I am not interested in building a hackintosh or transitioning to a PC, I have tried both in the past and it's just not on the table this time around.
I have done extensive research on the Mac Mini 2020 (maxed out everything, self upgrade to max ram, 1TB ssd) and the MBP 16" (with the maxed processor, probably 1TB ssd, 8GB graphics, and 64GB ram). $1299 vs $1799 2020 MacBook Pro 13" - Full Comparison!
I’m thinking about buying the base model with 512 Go of storage and 16 Go of RAM but I would kind of feel like I’m buying the less good and much less future proof model. The Pro will outperform it. At that point, the price difference is $200 for the higher end model with a better processor, better thermal system, two extra TB3 ports, and better speakers. Also Apple could've made it so that the higher end model stuck to base 256GB/8GB and lowered the price by $300, but too many people would probably opt for that instead.

Might be worth waiting a few weeks to see what Apple has up their sleeve.Yeah, I mean that would pull some more performance but the big problem is it's still holding on to 10+ year old parts which makes me concerned about longevity.
You can buy them yourself for $10-20.You might as well just get a 16” pro on sale if you’re already good spending another $200 for a 13” and it definitely will stay reliableI would like it if the next update gave all “Pro” versions 4 ports (only 2 on the air), and the screen gets updated to reduce the bezel (14 inch is a good compromise).iirc it was like this last year too. **I am currently a proud owner of a Mac Pro 5,1 (mojave, 8 core, dual 2.4GHZ, 40GB ram, RX580). That may be too optimistic with Apple’s typical pricing. You mention that you’re currently using a 6 year old MacBook Pro, so assuming you keep the same pattern you’re looking at your next purchase being in 2026.
