This is critical when using twine . I use a constrictor knot at the pouch end and the wrap and tuck at the fork.
One the other hand, my band set up is tapered for competition, lasts only around 150-200 shots. Melt it in one end. Not so much with rubber ties . I prefer using the suede side of the pouch on the outside the smooth skin side on the inside - better grip for fingers. Assuming you're tying the knot correctly the problem must be you are not prestretching the bands adequately prior to securing the knot . OK I have been following @Slingshot_Sniper's advice and using unwaxed, 100% cotton butchers twine and a constrictor knot with everything else …

However, many times the constrictor knot I use to secure the bands to the pouch slips, as in the latex pulls underneath it. Never had a failure but did have some burns..Also tried using the internal paracord threads. The white threads are so much easier to see and easier to tie with than the thin black cotton string found in the wifes sewing stuff. Probably pick up some crochet thread next trip to the craft store. Awesome video!!!!

Had a brief stint with rubber tying some time ago, but I realised that they were decreasing my band life.I use constrictor knot exclusively, and a synthetic thread which here is called something like "mason's thread" which I burn/melt with the lighter and then press with my finger against the knot. - posted in General Slingshot Discussion: I have used them since 2003!
