Class topics focus on U.S. History & Civics in order to pass the citizenship exam.
The program began offering English and citizenship classes. The decision to become a U.S. citizen is an important and personal one. Students from BC High were presented the opportunity from the school or from other sources to help out the community. Liz: My parents were Philippines immigrants, and so I originally became familiar with this program for a little while.
I worked with primarily seniors.Mike Oliver, the director was also interviewed .
More recently, with all the sort of anti-immigrant sentiment being fostered by the federal administration (the president), they infuriated me. Yes, I have family here.My teacher was Peg and she was really nice.Their stories are all unique and special, which makes the St. Mark community so specialSt. 70% of the volunteers that responded to the survey didn’t come to St. Mark consistently (weekly).In the first few weeks of the class, Yoon and Ying surveyed students, teachers and volunteersMaya: A lot of my family is from the Dorchester community, I thought it would be good to stay involved.
In 2003, the parish received funding from English for New Bostonians which used to hire a part-time director and teachers. I kind of really had a connection with her. During the fall we began partnering with Project Citizenship and the Boston Public libraries. We provide research, executive education, expert insights and tools, and networking opportunities to support your development as a leader and enable you to achieve greater business and social value.
For those reasons, I decided to volunteer for the citizenship program and I started off with teachers doing small groups. This way, we are able to capture the special moments and stories of St. Mark and present to the public what this community is all about!Maya: I’m Maya.
I just love helping her all the time because she was just so grateful and cute. The experience teaching students for the teachers was in-depth and mentioned it was very “rewarding,” “inspiring,” and “wonderful.”With the appreciable history and meaningful mission statement of SMCEP, the Northeastern University and St. Mark wanted to interview different populations–students, volunteers, and teachers–in the community. I’m so grateful for Mike who’s just so committed to this work, and as is Peg and Nick. They are happy to share their experience. Citizenship application assistance includes N-00, N-600, N-648 disability and I-912 fee waiver; interview and test preparation, and support services at two sites: … As our client, an IINE legal team member will fully represent you on your immigration legal matter.A member of our legal services team will schedule an initial meeting with a potential client at one of our offices to determine the best course of action.After the initial meeting, if it is determined that IINE can represent a potential client in their immigration case, then the client will be given a list of documents to collect and instructions on making a follow-up appointment with a member of the legal team.In addition to free Citizenship Preparation Services, IINE’s Legal Team also offers help with Green Card applications, Family reunification petitions, Marriage-based Green Card applications, Employment Authorization Documents, passport applications and other legal immigration status processes.If you are interested in downloading our collateral, just click on the buttons bellow to download the file(s).Citizenship Preparation classes are held for 2 hours, twice each week, for 12-week terms.
