This pulley is just too handy to only have one on hand (pun intended). CE, NFPA 1983 (2017) G, EN12278:2007.
Some climbers like to install a high-efficiency, ball-bearing pulley on the rope bridge of their harness, as this reduces wear on the bridge and lets the climber's tie-in point traverse the bridge more easily.
5,175 lb breaking strength, 1/2” capacity, 3” tall x 1.75 ” wide, weighs 3.2oz. This is because the friction hitch is not tied with the end of the climbing line, but with the split tail instead. In esscence, any friction hitch will self tend with a pulley behind becuase the pulley is just doing your hands job for you. The Hydra can be used on your rope bridge for a sliding connection point which also eliminates rope twisting, or even as a lanyard adjuster or to tend your friction hitch (though the swivel won't come into play in that setup).
The Tri Tie is built with swinging, aluminum sideplates, a 1.25" aluminum sheave, bronze bushing, and aluminum axle.“One additional consideration that is not advertised as much as it should be, is that the hitch climber requires a spliced eye climbing line, a large connection knot at the carabiner could interfere with the operation of the friction hitch (a rather dangerous situation). Rounded anchor holes work great with custom spliced terminations or carabiners. The best thing to do is to just try it if you have got a split tail kicking about just tie a short blakes hitch and shove a pulley behind it. This knot can be easily advanced up the line by using a micro pulley, swivel snap, and additional carabiner as shown in the system pictured here. The hitch cord terminations are held at the base of the pulley. The hitch is pushed by the top of the pulley.
28mm sheave. Fairlead flares and rounded cheek plate edges help maintain high working efficiency, and attachment holes reduce the probability of carabiner rotation. The Hitch Climber Pulley has many uses!
If you want climb with the split tail method, look for saddles that have multiple attachment points (these can be either fixed or floating). Blake’s Hitch v/s Other Knots. Using pulleys throughout your climbing system can help reduce overall friction and improve the efficiency of your climbing. The Rigger Pulleys feature a new axle construction with stronger axle/side plate interface for increased longevity. It has to be tied using only four wraps otherwise there is too much friction.
This is now my new working knot; it seems to outperform the vt on every level.
Split tail climbing system showing the use of micro pulley to advance the friction hitch. The fixed tail climbing method describes a system in which the climbing line is tied to the saddle (either directly with a knot or indirectly with a carabiner or rope clip) with a short tail left beyond the termination.
Tried this the other day, tying a really short blakes hitch and putting a micro pulley behind it. To get around branches protruding through the loop formed by the climbing line and split tail, the climber need only disconnect the climbing line (not the split tail), re-route the climbing line, and then re-connect the climbing line to the saddle.
We're sure you'll find many other uses for this great new pulley.A high-quality pulley is the heart of a good doubled-rope climbing system. To get past these the climber must first untie the friction hitch, then disconnect the climbing line from the saddle, re-route the climbing line to the other side of the branch, and re-tie the friction hitch. The split tail climbing method refers to a system in which the climbing line is tied to the saddle (preferably indirectly with a carabiner or rope clip) without leaving a tail beyond the termination. Purple Anodized Aluminum side plates, 1 1/4” aluminum sheave, bushing, and stainless steel axle.7,000 lb breaking strength, max capacity 1/2”, 3.5” tall x 1.75” wide, weighs 4 oz.“My first pulley, initially used for 'hitch tending' a Blake's hitch; always on my belt for use when needed. Valdotain Tresse – Does not lock on you, a weakness that the Blake’s suffers from, at times. The sideplates work seamlessly with a twin-leg Rope Wrench tether, for a super clean setup. This spacer is designed to be used with the DMM Pinto Rig Pulley to keep the side plates from pinching together when using textile products.“It's a little pricey for a micro pulley, but there are good reasons for that. However a Blakes will not "break" like a v.t so can't run as smoothly up the rope.
