Portofino, is located in the region of Liguria, Northern Italy on the Italian Riviera.. Portofino is a famous"grown-up" fishing village.
We stayed in Eden Roc in Positano and it would be within your budget and the views are fantastic.
To visit the Amalfi Coast from Portofino, it will take roughly 8h40m via … We have though of going to Postiano, however, reading these forums, transportation seems to be an issue and could be hard to get around in the area. Venice is exactly the opposite.Florence - Naples is 486 kilometresFlorence - Venice is 230 kilometresVenice to me is just an overcrowded town that is unique, without question, but has evolved into a pale version of anything resembling charm. One of the most popular resort towns on the Italian Riviera, little Portofino has just over 500 permanent residents. Answer 1 of 5: We are in Italy for a limited time and intend staying in Tuscany for a week then 2 or 3 days in either Venice or Positano - not enough time to do both. Positano has the type of shops that sell the pottery, those flowy gauzey type outfits, but not the same type as Capri. Plenty to see and do in the local area including Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello even Pompeii is not far. In my opinion Ravello does not fit the bill for what you are seeking. Belmond Hotel Splendido.
I always stay in Santa Margherita Ligure when I go to the Ligurian coast as it is a larger village and easy to travel from to get to Rapallo, Cinque Terre and anyplace else along that coast. Edited: 5 years ago Portofino to Florence on the train/bus will take 5h 10 minutes, or you can drive it in 2h 10 minutes.
Any suggestions as to which to choose? Probably not included as Portofino hotels are very expensive, and the roads in the Cinque Terre are impossible for buses. Portofino is very lovely - and, very very tiny. Is there a way to post the picture.
There is a gorgeous hike from Santa Margherita Ligure to Portofino. Portofino is also very beautiful, but nowhere near the Amalfi Coast so you might want to post in a Portofino Forum to get more information. The two destinations are very different. We hope you'll join the conversation by posting to an open topic or starting a new one. There are just about 525 residents of Portofino vs nearly 4,000 in Positano - just another indicator of size of each place.Of course, the entire area is beautiful so I don't think you can go wrong with whichever place you ultimately choose to stay in.-:- Message from Tripadvisor staff -:-You should google photos of Portofino to get some idea of what the village (and its size) is like. Think you would be bored in Portofino for a week, if Cinque Terre is big draw, then stay there instead of Portofino I think it has more to do and offer.
